Oldies but goodies…
I remember the days I used to shower, dry my hair, do my makeup, analyze my outfit… Every. Single. Day. I took those daily showers for granted. Those days are in the past. As a mom of two young boys and having just moved to a brand new city, I don’t get to go out much. Therefore, when I get the chance for a date night or family/friend event, I JUMP at the chance to actually wear some ‘real’ clothes. This past weekend, a cousin of mine was getting married, and we were throwing a party for my dad. I was pretty excited to have a couple events giving me an excuse to buy some new outfits.
The renovations and then the move to the new house put the shopping temporarily on hold. Shortly after I finally started browsing again online, my sister got sick and clothes were the absolute farthest thing from my mind. I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d even make it to Wisconsin for the wedding and party, but after a successful surgery, we decided that I would fly out to represent the Maryland crew. I found myself scrambling to pack the night before my flight with no idea what I was actually going to wear… Totally regretting getting rid of a bunch of dresses when I moved…. I had felt so good about it at the time!
I found this gem deep in my closet… Abercrombie & Fitch circa 2011 (ish) that I had worn only one other time during a recruiting event… It made a pretty fun wedding dress!! Plus my favorite Splendid wedges from a million years ago that I don’t think I’m ever going to get rid of. (I’d include links if any of them still existed)
I forgot to get a clear picture of the outfit actually on, but you can see some of it in this picture with my little sister <3
The wedding was a BLAST. Lots of laughing, crying, and shots for the people who couldn’t be there with us. Needless to say, I was hurting in the morning… Totally worth it.
Hangover aside, I had to get ready for event #2 with the other outfit I had dug out of my closet. This one was less of a throwback. It’s from Madewell, a little less than a year ago. Fall 2016 Madewell especially was my jam… I love everything in that place! The romper is no longer for sale, but you can find the jacket here. The earrings and necklace are my go-tos anytime I decide on gold. LOVE them.
The party was at the Harley Davidson Museum, and without seeing the venue, I had no idea how much to dress up or dress down. That venue was so cool, and my outfit worked well because it definitely was casual but wasn’t a “dress down” event. My only regret? I almost always regret wearing a romper when it’s for more than a couple hours and drinks are involved… They make those “quick” bathroom trips next to impossible!
Overall successful outfit weekend! Which is good because I didn’t leave any room for error in my suitcase.
Both solid choices!
