6 Easy Cocktails Using Elderflower Liqueur

I honestly can’t remember when I fell in love with this liqueur, but it happened. Anyone who knows me knows I have a sweet tooth which makes liqueurs my jam. They have a low alcohol content, but they add extra flavor and sweetness to cocktails. To me, that instantly makes a cocktail more interesting! St. Germain is an elderflower liqueur. If I’m being honest, I didn’t know what an elderflower was. I looked it up, and it is, in fact, a flower. I also read that elderflower extract is sometimes used as medicine, so this is basically a list of health drinks…

Elderflower Champagne

My absolute favorite cocktail involving St. Germain in simply St. Germain and Prosecco. It’s light, sweet, and feels extra fancy for some reason. You don’t even need much of the liqueur, I use about half an ounce, but you can adjust as needed!

  • Fun Champagne Flute
  • 1/2 Oz St. Germain
  • Fill the rest of the glass with whatever Champagne/Prosecco you enjoy!

The elderflower liqueur makes the cocktail sweet, so add more or less depending on desired sweetness level.

Bubbly St Germain Cocktail

Want to step it up a notch?? This cocktail takes the elderflower/champagne combo and adds vodka and lemonade…. It’s delicious!

  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz St Germain
  • About 4 oz Prosecco
  • Top with Elderflower Lemonade (I found the Belvoir brand at Whole Foods)

Fill a wine glass with ice. Add all ingredients and stir to mix.

Spicy St. Germain Margarita

I honestly never would’ve thought to combine St. Germain with tequila, but WOW this was good! I feel bad cheating on my champagne/St. Germain combo, but this might be my favorite cocktail on this list. A quick google search brought up a ton of tequila/elderflower combinations, but a friend of mine sent me her go-to. Once I saw that she adds jalapeño, I was sold. I went a little nuts with the jalapeño by doing a full one and muddling and shaking it a ton. Next time, I might reduce it slightly haha. Otherwise, it was perfect!

  • 2 oz Tequila (I HIGHLY recommend The Rock’s tequila, Teremana!)
  • 1.5 oz St. Germain
  • 1/2 Sliced Jalapeño (more or less, depending on desired level of spicy)
  • 1/2 Lime, Juiced
  • Splash simple syrup (if desired)

Add the sliced jalapeño and juiced lime into a cocktail shaker and muddle together well. Add ice, Tequila, St. Germain and splash of simple syrup. Shake really well and pour over ice.

Flowery Grapefruit Cocktail

Pretty awesome name for this one, huh? I obviously made it up and am not an expert cocktail namer. This is the other Belvoir flavor I came across at Whole Foods and had to try. I never would’ve thought to combine grapefruit vodka with elderflower liqueur, but this is a close first for favorites. It’s light and fruity and delicious!

  • 1.5 oz Grapefruit Rose Vodka
  • 1 oz St Germain
  • Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling Elderflower Rose Lemonade

Add all ingredients over ice and stir! If you don’t have this specific sparkling lemonade, I bet it would be delicious with lemon juice and Prosecco or even just straight lemonade.

Elderflower French 75

Let me start this one off with the fact that I’m not a Gin drinker. I used to like Rum, now I’m very much a Vodka person. When I googled St. Germain cocktails, this one was hard to ignore. Add in the fact that multiple friends recommended it, I had to try. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Lemon and Gin pair really well together. Add my favorite St Germain/Prosecco combo into the mix, it’s a win win!

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz St Germain
  • 1/2 Lemon Juice
  • Prosecco

Add all ingredients and stir. Top with a lemon twist for garnish!

St Germain Mule

I know nobody is surprised that I threw in a Mule, but you guys…. I didn’t love this one! I’m including it on the list because it wasn’t bad. I could barely taste the St. Germain, so it didn’t taste much different than a regular mule. I tried adding a little extra St. Germain, but the ginger beer continued to overpower it. It could still be a “stock-the-bar” with St. Germain option, but it wouldn’t be my go-to!

  • 1.5 oz Cucumber Vodka
  • 1 oz St Germain
  • 1/2 Lime, Juiced
  • Ginger Beer (to top it off)

Add all ingredients over ice and stir.

Shaker and Spoon – Cocktail Club

Last but not least, I tried the most amazing blueberry cinnamon cocktail. For my birthday, Joe signed me up for a monthly cocktail club, Shaker & Spoon… I didn’t even know that existed, and what was the theme of my first month? Yup, St. Germain! The box that arrives provides all the non-alcoholic ingredients you need for three different cocktails (enough for four of each one). The ingredient cards include lots of helpful info about the ingredients and tips for making the cocktails. Such a cool idea and really fun to try such different drinks. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that you could buy separate ingredients and specific cocktail “kits” on their website. Personally, I fell in love with this blueberry cinnamon syrup and am relieved I can buy it again once I run out!
