Our dining table has been empty since Christmas, so I knew it was time to get something on there. It’s technically still winter, but I’m trying to surround myself with Spring details to give me hope of sunshine and nice weather…. Kind of the “dress for the job you want, not the job you have” mentality.
The Table “Base”
The Spring vibe I was trying to accomplish was light and bright with a little bit of rustic and a whole lot of simplicity. I steered clear of placemats/chargers because I felt that would make the table feel a little fancy. The runner I used is actually four placemats lined up together. I fell in love with the fabric and knew I wanted to incorporate it somewhere around here. I should have sewn them together to make it “official”, but I haven’t taught myself how to sew yet.
Spring Greenery and Flowers
All of the garlands that I own are pretty wintery, so I needed some Spring. I went to Hobby Lobby and was blown away at their selection. Their faux greenery has such a realistic look to it as well. I grabbed two pieces of this garland to place down the center of the table.
I needed some height, so I used these wire bud vases and wound the garland through the bottom. I attempted to put real tulips into the bud vase, but the real tulips had a thicker stem and were a little too floppy for my taste…. Such a terrible thing to admit. I usually vote real over faux any day! I had also wanted to incorporate one of my favorite flowers in the center, so I grabbed a few hydrangeas since they looked in really good shape. Peonies are my other favorite, so I totally would’ve grabbed those if I had found them!
Rustic/Casual Table Setting
As much as I love the feminine touches, I think the balance between feminine and more rustic/modern is my style. I offset all the girly flowers down the center with a more rustic table setting. I used black plates and the recycled glass glasses, all topped off with a rosemary sprig for the name card.
Quick, easy, and affordable…. The perfect combination!
