If you follow along on Instagram, you know how much I love the modern look of black and white. Add gold and greenery into the mix, and it’s the perfect modern “color palette” for a Christmas tablescape.
I started with these clean, modern candlesticks from H&M. I loved the gold and black combination. They were sold out of the shorter option, so I went with the all-gold of the same style. They all seem to be sold out at H&M now, but these candlesticks from Amazon look similar!
I found the checked tablecloth at Hobby Lobby, and it’s now on sale! Since we love the wood tone of our dining table a ton, I folded the tablecloth to look more like a runner. I ended up being extremely grateful for that runner once I started playing around with all the greenery…. Which kind of stems leak sap??
Now that I’ve mentioned the greenery, I went a little nuts with it here. I started with a faux eucalyptus and pine cone garland. Then I loaded up at Trader Joes. There was “swag” made up of all different kinds of winter stems and tied together with a bow. I just deconstructed the bundle and used the best looking branches to beef up the garland. I grabbed a few eucalyptus stems and magnolia stems as well to add into the mix. Eucalyptus is my favorite “filler”, and the extra deep green color of the magnolia stems felt very modern to me.
For the place settings themselves, I used these black plates from H&M… one of the cheapest plates I’ve come across, and I’m super impressed with the quality so far! I had seen a cute setup on Pinterest where the napkin wrapped around the plate and was tied with a ribbon. I ended up adding the horizontal ribbon as well to mimic a present. Then I used these chalkboard ornaments for the name tags.
And that’s it! Simple, natural, and somewhat elegant tablescape that would be perfect during the holidays!
